Expecting parents are welcome to join us for a gathering to build nourishment, support and self-care for life after birth.

Becoming a new parent can be overwhelming and isolating. It's typical to spend a lot of time nesting and preparing for the baby but little goes into planning for postpartum wellness for new parents. In this workshop, you'll learn how to prepare for postpartum recovery, nourish yourself and your body, and empower yourself during your healing journey. You'll connect with other expecting parents and have the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences in a safe space.

You will leave with a greater understanding of

  • The greatest myth about postpartum: Bonding with your baby will happen instantly and effortless
  • How to create a circle of support for your 4th trimester and beyond
  • The importance of setting boundaries and how to establish them
  • How nutrition helps with postpartum healing
  • Postpartum mental health and how support helps
  • Community resources available for postpartum

Important Details

  • Saturday, April 22
  • From 3 to 5 pm
  • At Aline's Tea Shop Timmins
  • A hot artisanal caffeine-free tea will be served during the event

About your workshop host: Sara Derby (she/they)

Sara became a Birth Worker to help others in all aspects of their reproductive journey.  Whether that is helping you find access to abortion and being with you during that vulnerable time, providing you with information so you can make informed decisions on your pregnancy care, squeezing your hips during and reminding you that YOU CAN DO IT, and bringing you nourishing meals postpartum; Sara is proud to serve families throughout the Timmins area.

Every person deserves to have someone there to guide and assist them in making educated choices about their pregnancy, and remind them that they can trust the strength of their bodies during this time. Sara is here to provide unbiased information and emotional support.

Sara (she/they) is a queer mother and neurodivergent full-spectrum birth worker and childbirth educator. She is honoured to be able to share her knowledge with birthing people and their families. She's been a birth worker since 2018 and continuously pursues new learning opportunities to gain skills and experience to better support her community.
