what people are saying about rebel soul retreats

Sylvie’s unique and creative approach to guiding yoga and self-reflection practices has given me the opportunity to truly connect and listen to my body, my mind, my heart and soul.

I was eager to join the weekend Rebel Soul Retreat, aware of the many benefits I was already receiving from the local yoga and discovery sessions. Sylvie’s warm and non-judgmental nature encourages her student to explore their comfort zones while respecting our limits that allow us to flourish.  I was seeking to experience continued healing and clarity to help me on my journey of personal healing and growth.

The beautiful natural setting at the Edge was calming and inspirational giving the participants the opportunity to peacefully settle and rest. Good laughs, outdoor adventures and delicious meals were also a wonderful treat to the weekend together. If you are feeling the call to connect with your inner peace and transformation, as well as nourish your body, mind, heart and soul, give yourself the wonderful gift of participating in a Rebel Soul Retreat.

  • embodiment

You’ll be guided through mindful movement, meditations, and breathwork practices throughout the retreat. From outdoor yoga, to morning rise + shine practices, energizing dance parties, to calming evening yin practice. These practices will allow you to release what no longer serves you, connect with your body, tune into your heart’s wisdom, and shift energy to aligned with the fall season.

  • creativity

This retreat will feature a botanical bounty: natural dye workshop facilitated by Wendy Martin. Wendy creates handmade living inks sourced from locally foraged materials. Including berries, flower petals, leaves &  grasses.  These natural pigments are shifted with mineral salt modifiers, which transforms a singular pigment into a spectrum of colours. She works with raw canvas and dyes, both natural & fibre reactive dyes.

  • rejuvenation

You will have plenty of free time to decompress whether in many of the natural spaces around the Edge, rejuvenate in the sauna, and sitting around the campfire. The weekend retreat will also include restorative yin practices and guided reflective practices that will help you tune inwards and find clarity.

frequently asked questions

What is the cancellation policy?

You can find the cancellation policy for retreats at the Northern Edge Algonquin here.

Do I need yoga or retreat experience to join?

No, you do not need any yoga or retreat experience to join, however, you may want to attend a yoga class or two before joining to brush up on postures and terminology. You’ll find yoga classes offered by Rebel Soul in Timmins here.

How does payment work? Do I need to pay in full or a deposit?

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to hold your spot at the retreat. The remaining balance will be due 15 days prior to the first day of the retreat.

How advanced or hard is the yoga?

The yoga postures on retreats are not about coming into the most advanced version of the pose, it is more about connecting with the mind, body, and soul and shifting energy > you don’t need to be a seasoned yogi for this. I typically find what most people find challenging is slowing down and finding stillness. I do and will offer a variety of modifications for the practice. If you have special requirements (injuries, chronic pain, ect) it’s always good to let me know ahead of time.

How much yoga will there be at this retreat?

With this question I assume you are asking about asana or the physical practice of yoga postures. There will be a couple classes throughout the weekend. But don’t forget there are 8 limbs of yoga which include but are not limited to meditation, breath work, self-mastery, and acts of service which will be practice in a variety activities throughout the weekend other than being on your yoga mat.

What time do I arrive and what time does the retreat end?

Plan on arriving Friday between 1-3 pm on arrival day. During arrival, you will have the opportunity to settle into your cabin and enjoy free time. Departure time is after lunch on Sunday.

Will I have access to the internet?

There are no cell phone towers in and around our Algonquin Park location. The Edge team uses secure satellite internet for business and emergency purposes, but this is not available to guests.

If you plan to call home on arrival, please do so from South River before your last 20km where cell signals will be reduced.

Do you cater to special dietary needs?

Absolutely! During the registration process, you’ll have the opportunity to let us know about your dietary needs, and you’ll be very well taken care of.

Do I have to shared a cabin/room?

When you register you decide if you’d like shared or private accommodation.

Solo travellers are often paired in shared accommodations with one or two others to foster friendships and create space for more participants to join a program.

When couples or friends book together, you’ll access the shared accommodation rates with no additional roommates.

Where can I go if I still have more questions ?
